Congratulations to Chanelle Johnson - 1st MIss Naturally Crowned Carolina

THE INAUGURAL MISS NATURALLY CROWNED CAROLINA CHANELLE JOHNSON

MS. CHANELLE JOHNSON is the 24 year old daughter of Mrs. Annie Johnson and the late Mr. William Johnson. She is a 2011 graduate of the University of South Carolina where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Experimental Psychology. In 2013, she completed a Master of Science in Higher Education from Florida State University.  Currently, Chanelle serves as an academic advisor at the University of South Carolina, where she helps students navigate between majors. Chanelle also serves in the Body of Christ at Right Direction Church International.  Additionally, she is also involved in her hometown community of Manning, South Carolina, through an annual girl’s event.

Chanelle aspires to continue life as an encourager, educator, photographer, consultant, and world traveler. In December 2009, she began her natural hair journey which she views as an ongoing process, more so than a "challenge." She begs of us to ask ourselves, “Who are we not to be bold, beautiful, and brilliant with our breathtaking natural hair?” She returned to wearing her natural hair on July 10, 2009, to be exact, and parted ways with her remaining relaxed hair a few months later in December.  Chanelle views wearing natural hair as an ongoing process rather than a challenge and encourages taking time to research natural hair care methods to assist you on your unique journey.

As the grand prize winner, Chanelle is the recipient of a $1,000 non-equity start-up business investment which will be used to further her aspirations in photography. She will also receive a full-year supply ($2,500 value) of make-up from LAMIK Beauty, the nation's first eco-chic cosmetics brand.
